Dwell

Psalm 27:4 “One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”

Do you think that perhaps David had been somewhere in his spiritual walk that made all else immaterial as what was truly important became the desire of his heart? To ask just one thing of the Lord is well beyond my comprehension. I think all of heaven would stop in silence if I only asked one thing of the Lord! When we take ourselves out of the world we surround ourselves with, things begin to lose their value. Friends, which come and go as the tides, pale in comparison to the One who never changes. Family that has the ability to let us down because of their human frailty could never equal the Shepherd who guards, guides, and protects us every moment of our lives. No wonder David, the man who had everything that money could possibly buy, knew the secret lay in only being in the presence of God.
