As The Deer…

Psalm 42:1, 2 “As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?”

Have you ever been in a situation where all you could think about was water? Being a cowgirl from southeastern Colorado I would “get” to help brand the calves when it was the hottest part of the summer, or was as my memory recalls. Now, forget all that great outdoors stuff, when you’re out on the prairie with nothing but rattlesnakes and cattle, water becomes a priority. It becomes all you think about, nothing else matters. When the Psalmist talks about the deer panting for the water so his soul longs after God, I can relate to that. When we’re at the point that nothing in this world is more important than seeking Him, and He is all that we desire, then we understand what this verse means. We’ll never get to that point unless we spend time with Him alone, letting to know what He is all about. The next time you’re thirsty take a spiritual water test and see where
you’re at.
