Psalm 96:9 “Worship the Lord in the Splendor of his holiness; tremble before him, all the earth.”
Until you can get to the point of surrendering everything to God, willing to sacrifice the things that you once considered important, it will be hard to pray for holiness. Strange thing about holiness, when you ask for holiness in your life suddenly whatever had been the focus in your life fades away. It’s not something we can buy into or work hard enough to be, it’s a by-product of being in the presence of God. When I was a teenager my stepfather told me that either I would start acting like my friends or they would act like me, there would be no middle ground. It’s like that when you’re spending time with your Father and I would venture to say that God will never become like you. You will start to change because of who you are with, not because of who you are. Your life will reflect the company you’re keeping.
